Scoring cheap plane tickets to your favorite holiday destination
If you are looking to purchase tickets for the holidays, there are a few options for saving money on the airline fare. You don’t want your entire budget to be blown just on the tickets.
Purchase the tickets early. The earlier you book the tickets, the less of a demand, and the cheaper the tickets are. The close you come to the departure date, the more expensive the tickets become.
Be open for when you leave and fly out during mid-week, instead of the weekend. If you are flexible and are willing to leave during mid-week, you are going to find tickets are fare less expensive than during the weekend flights.
Look at penny auctions. These websites allow you to bid on flights. A penny auction increase in price a penny at a time (generally). You do need to be careful though, as every time you bid, you are charged a small fee, so although the final price may seem like a good deal, you do end up paying more, due to the number of bids you placed.
Be willing to fly out of a different airport. For example, if you life in northern Indiana are are just looking for flights out of Indianapolis, you may find flights out of Chicago, which is just a little further away, may actually be cheaper.
